What is the NeuroCalm Method?
Anxiety and stress affect millions of people — students facing exams, adults managing demanding careers, parents juggling competing responsibilities. Yet most available support falls into two categories: clinical therapy, which addresses deep psychological issues, or generic relaxation advice, which rarely touches the root of the problem. NeuroCalm was developed to fill the gap between the two.
What NeuroCalm Is
NeuroCalm is an integrative coaching method developed by Dr Persephone, combining several evidence-based therapeutic and coaching modalities into a single structured approach. Rather than applying one technique universally, NeuroCalm draws on a range of tools and applies them according to each individual client’s needs, patterns and responses.
The Components
EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique)
EFT involves tapping on specific meridian points on the body while focusing on a particular thought, emotion or physical sensation. It has a growing body of research supporting its effectiveness for anxiety, stress and trauma responses, and works by calming the nervous system’s stress response while simultaneously processing the emotional content attached to it.
Vagal Toning
The vagus nerve plays a central role in regulating the body’s stress response. Vagal toning techniques — including specific breathing patterns, cold exposure and sound-based practices — activate the parasympathetic nervous system, shifting the body out of fight-or-flight and into a state of calm and regulation.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT addresses the relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Within NeuroCalm, CBT techniques are used to identify and reframe the thought patterns that maintain anxiety — the catastrophising, the avoidance, the negative predictions — and replace them with more accurate and helpful ways of thinking.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)
NLP works with the language and mental patterns that shape how we experience and respond to the world. Within NeuroCalm, NLP techniques are used to shift unhelpful associations, build confidence and create new mental frameworks for approaching previously anxiety-provoking situations.
Thought Field Therapy (TFT)
TFT is a precursor to EFT that uses specific tapping sequences — or algorithms — targeted to particular emotional states. It is particularly effective for specific phobias, performance anxiety and acute stress responses.
Who It Is For
NeuroCalm is suitable for anyone experiencing anxiety, stress or emotional overwhelm — whether related to exams, work, relationships or daily life. It is also used within Dr Persephone’s ADHD coaching practice, where anxiety and emotional dysregulation frequently accompany neurodivergent presentations.
What It Is Not
NeuroCalm is a coaching method, not a clinical therapy. It is not a substitute for psychiatric treatment or medical intervention. Clients experiencing severe mental health conditions are encouraged to seek clinical support alongside or instead of coaching.
